Dead Space 3 Middle Thought
As we approach the middle of the campaign of Dead Space 3, there are many positive and negative factors. As of late the story has dominated over any other aspect of the game. Again, EA has created an environment and is able to infuse fear with bone chilling weather. But, there are pivotal mechanics in the game that need attention, the bench for starters. Yes, being able to create a double ripper is something everyone should do. But, the navigation when it comes to working on the bench is atrocious. There has been many a time that Isaac/Carver will find himself building a random weapon mistaking the “B” button to go back one screen. Instead “B” stands for “build” instead of “back” but only when using the bench. The other major downfall that seems to be exclusive to the 3rd instalment is the hit detection. When fitting multiple necromorphs there is a lot of pressure to quickly down one target then move onto the next. The hit detection seems to have a moment of hesitation on contact. Even the infamous line-gun has problems; known for its ability to dismember almost any necromorph with a single blow in the first 2 instalments Instead, most enemies just look at you funny after attempting separate their limbs from their body. Then continue to get as close as possible. So close that unless one is looking at their feet they will not hit anything. Problems like these create a situation where one finds more usefulness in running than dismembering.
